 System Requirements
All you need to run MathAid software is Java. The most of up-to-date desktop systems have Java preinstalled. The best way to check if your system is ready to run MathAid products is to try the Demo version. It will check your system and, if necessary, give recommendations.

MathAid software runs on the client side only and requires nothing from the server side. Our products can work with or without webserver, from CD-ROM, a local hard drive, or a local network using "Sharing". No installation of additional software is required on both client and server sides. Please refer to the installation instructions for details.

Officially we support the following client platforms:

  • Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
    • For CD-ROM distributions
      • No specific requirements
(CD contains Sun Java Runtime Environment)
    • For download distributions
      • Microsoft Java Virtual Machine 1.1.x
(Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 include it by default)
      • Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.1.8, 1.3.x or higher

  • Linux Red Hat/SUSE/Debian
      • Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.3.x or higher

For online access to MathAid products you can use any Java-enabled web-browser (for Windows we recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher). If you have problems starting MathAid products online please refer to the troubleshooting instructions.

Note for Windows XP users
Windows XP operating system comes without Java Virtual Machine installed. At the present time Microsoft no longer provides a download of JVM. But you can download free of charge the latest version of Java from Sun (the creator of Java) at

http://java.com/en/download.
Also note that MathAid products distributed on CDs have Sun Java included.

MathAid products are expected to run on other Java-enabled platforms, but they were not comprehensively tested yet, and we cannot guarantee full functionality. In particular, currently we do not officially support Apple Macintosh, but we are working to support it in the near future. Any feedback regarding functionality of our products in your system environment will be greatly appreciated.
